When you own a home it seems like even if it is brand new or even older, in really good shape, there is always stuff to maintain and keep up.

A couple months back I audibly gasped when I pulled the shade up on my sons bedroom window to clean it. It had a broom stick sized hole in it, and probably because of mom’s many warnings about not running with the broom handle, it was left for me to discover. There has been no more playing with the broom handle. Thankfully this was not one of the new windows, but was a nice window. So….now, a job that did not need to be done has to be done. Fast forward until now when the window cracked more and is taped up so it is not dangerous, but has to be repaired ASAP.

Then there is the re-painting of the porch, around the windows and the picnic table, if it would decide to not rain, and everything else got in a row, we could get it done.

Also, there is now touch ups of paint that need to be done, bedrooms to decorate, sinks to fix. Plus of course there are water filters to replace, the folding closet door we already replaced broke already, so we have to discover a sturdier alternative.

But still, when I sit in the living room and look around or even drive up, there is note of awe that still fills me and makes me so thankful to own a home. It is something I never thought I would be able to do and I am so thankful for God providing a way to do so!

I know EXACTLY how you feel. We bought our house last fall and it was a fixer upper. BIG TIME. but it was the right price, the right time and it’s all ours. There is a list a mile long that needs to be done. But, I love saying MY HOUSE. And when the kids ask if we can do something–like paint the walls or add a light–I love saying YES we can do that.

I TOTALLY know what you mean! It is such a blessing to own our own homes, but it just really never ends! We just put a light switch and medicine cabinet up in our bathroom and it’s so nice to be able to just flip a switch instead of looking for a light! Little finishing touches are huge around here! I lost the visiion of how our house would look as a finished product, but it’s back now and I can’t wait to get it done! (And then maintain things) LOL Your house is soo great! I’m so glad you were able to get such a nice house that fit your family and your needs! It’s soo open and nice! =)
