About the Book:
Dr. Matt Newman thought he was leaving his life as a surgeon in private practice for a better one in academic medicine. But the kidnappers who attacked him as he left the hospital at 2 a.m. have no such plans—they just want him dead. Bound and in the trunk of his car, Matt’s only thought is fleeing with his life. He does escape, but at a price: a head injury that lands him in the ICU . . . where he awakens to discover he’s being charged with murder.
Sandra Murray is a fiery, redheaded lawyer who swore she was done with doctors after her last relationship. But when Matt calls, she knows she can’t walk away from defending someone who is truly innocent.
Matt’s career is going down the drain. His freedom and perhaps his life may be next. But with the police convinced he’s a killer and the kidnappers still trying to finish what they started, finding the truth—and the faith to keep going—will be the toughest stress test Matt has ever endured.
My Review:
Matt has everything, a great girlfriend, good career, everything is going his way until he is knocked over the head and stuck in a trunk of his own car. Everything comes crashing down around his ears, literally when he ends up with a head injury and a murder charge.
This book is a fast paced mystery that seems like it happens in a short period of time. There is dirty cops, crooks, and men who will murder for nothing more than because they wanted to in this book and caught in the middle is Matt Newman, a doctor that just wants to be a great doctor.
At first I was trying to figure out why he was in trouble, but then was able to discard that and just get into the story. It is not a deep read, but a great book to take on your vacation to read for some fun suspense. The medical terms in the book are written for a layman to understand and it was another great book!
I got this book for review from Litfuse in exchange for an honest review.
