It is hard for me to write that even. It has been a hard last week and half. My grandmother is still alive at this point, has a very peaceful attitude, but her memory is gone now and really reminded me how we do go back to being children.
We drove down to spend time with her and thankfully when we got there, she was still lucid mostly and could spend time with us. We spent most of the time sitting near her, even when she was sleeping, she would wake up and join in on occasion. She was really funny sometimes so we were laughing with her when she would say funny things.
I am so glad I was able to go and spend this last bit with her! It was so hard to leave and say good-bye.
it is hard to remember that there is no sting in death, and that God is going to wipe away the tears from her eyes and she will not be in pain anymore.
In going through her stuff and pictures, she led a very full life! We found one notebook from when she was a telephone operator, and she had to keep track of who did or did not accept charges
I will write more about our trip later, my cousin and I, who both do not enjoy driving that much, were very happy and pleased with ourselves for driving the entire distance, making good time and getting here safely! The van was full of stuff from Grandma’s house, as well so it was heavy.
