I made mashed potatoes….from our large stock of potatoes in our “root cellar” of sorts. We got these for free in the fall and have kept them at a good temp. all year long! So counting milk and butter, those were under .50 for mashed potatoes.

Then I made chicken gravy……I used a jar of homemade chicken broth with chicken in it that my husband helped a friend butcher last summer. So, not counting electricity, plus a little cornstarch less than .10.

Green beans- homecanned from my garden last year…..1 jar fried in a little butter with seasonings….free, except for the oil and electricity!!!

Wonderful filling, homemade comfort food!!!  Less than $.60 for all of us with leftovers. That is good frugal food!!!
