I have not gotten as much reading done this month as I wish I could have!

A couple of books that I read though….

The Magic Hour by Kristin Hannah This story was interesting. It was about a young girl who was the victim of a kidnapping and spent her life in the woods, in a cave. She had to learn how to talk and live again. The trauma that she suffered was incredible, but also the resilience she had.

To Die For by Sandra Byrd
This is a novel set in the time of Henry the 8th, along with Anne Boleyn and her faithful companion. The culture of the day and the control that others had over marriage and life choices were incredibly sad. You had no control over much of what went on in your life. You read of poor Anne, who miscarries boy after boy baby and ends up losing her head in the end.

Rhythm of Secrets by Patti Lacy-
This book is similar to Patti’s first book The Irishwoman’s tale, in how you are listening to the character tell the story to someone else. You go back and forth between the present and the past, in this tale of a reunification of a mother and her only son. She was forced to give him up as a young woman and the tale of it horrified me. The things we did to people in the name of love.

Torrent by Lisa Bergren...is next on my pile to be read

There is a huge stack of books up there waiting for me….but I have not gotten to them yet!
