Adriane Darcy lives for the news! She would practically die for it, risking her own life and safety to catch the latest scoop, including dressing up like a boy to find out out about the serial killer terrorizing the city.
Blake Garrett, takes over the sworn rival of her father’s paper and while their meeting in the beginning is less than pleasant, she finds herself attracted without meaning to be.
I really enjoyed how this author wove a backdrop of history, with strong characters, loving families with problems. Adriene was abused by her step mother in spite of her father trying to protect her and is torn with her loyalties to her father and the business, and her own protection. Stanley gave me the creeps though! I was shivering with every meeting with him in the beginning. I felt like Ms. Gabhart took a story and explained in a nutshell how marriage was often to used to benefit status and deep pockets rather than being used for love. This book did have adult themes in it, so I would not recommend it for teen reading.
