I think is parenting. I know there are probably other things that are super hard, but for me, this has been the hardest job I ever tried to do.
I mean I feel like I am almost gambling with other human lives…if I mess up, I have completely just made it so they have to have therapy for the rest of their lives. But even in the small things, do you leave them unattended when they are 14? Yes, they are old enough, but what about the trouble they could possibly get into?
Do you allow them to get out of their booster seat when they are only 75 pounds, but almost 13?
What about candy? They like it, should you let them eat as much as they can, get sick and have it over with, or ration it? Are you a bad mom if you go one way or another?
It seems like there are so many things in parenting where guilt comes from other people, and not even that they mean to put it on you. Instead, you put it on yourself, wondering what is the best thing to do.
My thoughts have been that I am going to try to do the best job I can, and if I mess up, I will ask for forgiveness and hope that they know I am human, I will make mistakes, but I will try to do the best that I can!
We all make mistakes, even in our parenting, because no one is perfect. I know my parents made mistakes, but I still love them. :)
