I thought I would re-post this as I needed to remind myself about this book this time of year and thought maybe you would like it too!

Homeschooling at the Speed of Life- Balancing Home, School and Family in the real world
By Marilyn Rockett

Review by Martha Artyomenko

Are you an organized homeschooler? Do you always have everything in perfect order and everyone sits and does their school while you whip up amazing meals and keep the house spotlessly clean?
(What is your first thought when you hear that? Mine is something like, “Yeah, right, in a perfect world!”)
This book is a wonderful book that is a mixture of something in between an organizing book and a devotional. Marilyn is very easy to relate to as a mother of four boys herself. That she homeschooled, she is truly a Titus Two woman, an older woman teaching the younger women. I believe even if you do not homeschool you would enjoy this book!
The chapter titles include:
Real Life Home management
Clutter; Clutter Everywhere and Not a spot to think
Teaching Children Life Skills
Real Life around the house
And others…

A CD is included in this book with the File-a-Plan system on it for you, which she talks about in her book. Each chapter is laid out in an easy to read, easy to apply to your life format, and at the end of each chapter there is a Stop, Look, and Think spot. This has some key questions to help you think about the direction you are going and how you can apply change to your life and a short devotion, complete with scriptures to look up and an area to write notes.
Mrs. Rockett speaks from her heart and shares how she never intended on being a stay at home mom and how God changed her heart with His own plans and gave her a child who needed her constant care with severe asthma. She uses principles from God’s plan in the word of God to show us why organizing is needed in our lives as well as how to do it.

I really appreciated this book, it was well written and something I can easily put to use in my own life. The practical applications were wonderful as sometimes you can read something and wonder how on earth to apply it to your life! This is one of the best organizing books I have ever read, because it is not just another organizing book, it really does address the complete picture!
