(My cousin and youngest son)

I hear alot of stories from people who get negative comments when they go places about the number of children they have. Of course, I sort of consder myself to have a small family, with only 4, so was not surprised that I did not get them. However, I do get alot of comments- but positive ones and even ones that tell me stories of their large families they grew up with, how I should have more so I get a girl, how wonderful boys are, my hands are full and others. Anyhow, I was in the grocery store with the boys and a husband and wife of asian descent wee in front of me in line and smiling at the boys in the cart. Suddenly they noticed I had 4 boys (2 were behind a display) and smiled very big! "You are very rich!!!" he said "4 sons!"

They went on to ask me if I was Amish and when I said no, said "Russian?" I said my husband is and he nodded away and told me about a russian family in a nearby town he knows with 12 or 13 children and asked if I knew them.

His English was limited, but it made me come out of the store and realize that even though I may be poor when it comes to money and earthly goods, I am rich with 4 sons. It is the kind of wealth that will last alot longer than money.

Yes, you are very rich! I have only gotten positive comments too. At least I can't remember anyone negative ones right now. :)

That is neat. Doesn't it make you feel so great when people say *nice* things about your kids? :)

It's funny–the most sincerely positive comments I have recieved about my three boys have also come from Asians. I wonder if it has anything to do with the value they place on boys and the governmental or economic restrictions on family size in Asia?
